Patricia De Angelis is a botanist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service-Division of Scientific Authority, where she focuses on the impact of international trade on plants and animals (including invertebrates!) that are listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora (CITES; www.cites.org). She also chairs the Plant Conservation Alliance-Medicinal Plant Working Group (www.nps.gov/plants/medicinal), a federal/nonfederal partnership that promotes the sustainable use and conservation of native medicinal plants, including issues of relevance to pollinators (such as herbicide spraying). Patricias background is in ethnobotany, the study of human uses of plants.
